PITTSBURGH — Madelina DeLuca got quite the surprise when she came home from the hospital Saturday and saw her bedroom had received a complete makeover.
The little girl who is battling cancer was all smiles Saturday when she saw the room, which was renovated by a national non-profit organization called Special Spaces.

Channel 11 viewers might remember DeLuca from a picture than went viral in May that showed the little girl with her friend Maliyah, both of whom were battling cancer at Children’s Hospital.
Gail Knutsen, a spokeswoman for Special Spaces, said Saturday that a team spent hours painting the room and assembling new furniture for the little girl.
“It’s such a nice, pleasant surprise,” Knutsen said. “It’s a nice safe haven for the child, somewhere they can relax.”
Knutsen added that Special Spaces is always looking for volunteers.
